Goodreads: Book Reviews App Reviews

Why??!! Why??!!! Its so ridiculous that you let people randomly rate a book a 1 star (any star frankly) that isnt out for months when there is NO possible way that theyve read it. Its unfair to the authors and people like me who use your app to get recommendations on the next book to read.

This app really keeps me accountable!

I wish that when you started to search for a book, suggestions would drop down like on the website. But, all in all, its a great app. Lots of reviews to help decide whether to read a book or not. Quick. Doesnt crash. I particularly like the scan option. I go to the library and scan a bunch of books to remember for later or to check a review quickly.

This app makes it easy to use Goodreads on the go. It blends perfectly with the web version. I love getting recommendations on the go!

Overall I really love this app, it seems like a simplified version of the website but I dont feel like Im missing much. I use it mostly for adding books to my to-read or currently reading lists, the scan feature is so much easier than the full website! Though Ive noticed if the book is pretty old and doesnt have an ISBN-13 it wont recognize it and I still end up having to search for it. My biggest problem with the app is that the reading challenge shows you your progress but not how many books behind you are which is helpful when Im trying to plan out what Im going to read. Instead, I have to log into the full website to see how many books I need to catch up. Besides that one short coming I can easily rate and review books, look for related titles and read author profiles. Overall a good app and well worth downloading.

Goodreads is my favorite app. I check in every day and update my reading. I love the scan feature on my iPhone. I could go on and on.

There are some features of the app that are preferable to the website and others that are less desirable. Altogether, they complement each other nicely. Would do well to allow you to indicate if youve read a book multiple times, and if so, which dates.

Like that you can control when your activity shows up on Facebook or not too (though how does one see where book activity shows up on FB? Cant tell). And all the shelves you can add are great. Would be great if you could export your book list in case GoodReads goes away one day, but cant remember if I looked into it, so Ill have to...

Use this app all the time. Very good & keeps improving

Ive been working on a couple "100 best..." Book lists for the past five years. After trying several methods of listing and tracking, I got the goodreads app. Its awesome! And it is incredibly streamlined to access your account via computer rather than mobile device. Five stars! Have recommended it to several friends and family who also love it.

Search function needs to be improved

Now with series support and has previews of books, nice. One suggestion/request: let me (swipe to) shelve books from search results! New book screen is fantastic, even lets me change book editions now! Progress updates from app icon shortcut is brilliant and saves so much time. And thank for letting me get to my review from book page no matter which shelf its on (ahem, want to read!). Love! Instant searching on search tab makes so much easier to find books! Please let me swipe to shelve from the search results instead of clicking through to the book screen and then Im golden! Updated to make commenting easier/better. Still want much better UI for shelving books though. Seems to be the largest collection of book reviews in the world! I use goodreads to track all of my reading and to recommend books to friends, acquaintances, and random people I meet (can sms, email in addition to recommending to other goodreads members). Was excited to vote for my favorite books this year in goodreads choice awards in the app this time around!

Excellent site. Great way to keep track of read books and books on my "to read" list! Also wonderful way to connect with fellow bibliophiles and see what they are reading.

There are lots of well written reviews about any books you might want to read. Helps you select your next book.

I love being able to track, sort, and rate all of the books I read! Its a game-changer for bookworms like me :D It may not have 100% functionality, but its great for quick progress updates. And being minimal keeps the app size small.
